
The Kenya Red Cross Society- I.O.Me 254 Social Innovation Labs is a network of community-based innovation prototyping and incubation spaces with an array of Digital Fabrication tools to facilitate rapid prototyping and small-scale manufacturing of innovative ideas/products with a key interest in humanitarian innovations and community empowerment. It is an initiative of the Kenya Red CrossSociety so far located in Mombasa (I.O.Me001) and Lamu (I.O.Me005) Counties, Kenya and has been in operation since October 2020.
These collaborative spaces are designed to inspire and enable innovators, technology enthusiasts, researchers and entrepreneurs to create and quickly test new concepts, products and businesses by providing them with more options through access to advanced technology, sustainable materials production methodologies, and approaches to market through mentorship, shared knowledge and peer learning.
The lab also hosts the Women Social Entrepreneurship Institute, a transformative incubation program that supports informal women social entrepreneurs with skills, resourcesand networks for formalising and scaling their businesses.
