For the last 12 years, the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) has empowered entrepreneurial spirits by delivering disruptive solutions and fostering ecosystem development, making cross-sectoral collaborations the norm rather than the exception.
In 2021, EDI-Ethiopia transitioned to an autonomous entity under Proclamation No. 1263/2021. The proclamation brought under one roof two highly acclaimed projects: The UNDP-supported Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC), established in February 2013, and the World Bank-financed Women Entrepreneurship Development Project (WEDP), inaugurated in December 2012.
As a leader in the entrepreneurship and innovation landscape, EDI provides end-to-end integrated support solutions to businesses, individuals, and private and public institutions through a multi-tiered and multi-dimensional intervention approach.
Uniquely positioning itself as the leading provider and enabler of entrepreneurship education and skill development, EDI offers specialised programs for innovative startups and high-growth SMEs across job-rich economic sectors and value chains. With the view towards building a vibrant and dynamic entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem, it designs and implements high-end entrepreneurship and innovation programs in the public sector and corporate organizations, facilitates access to innovative finance and resources, crafts inclusive entrepreneurship programs to lift underrepresented communities out of poverty and on the path of wealth creation, and catalyzes ecosystem community building.
