The Africa Alliance of YMCAs (AAYMCA) connects and supports 23 YMCA National Movements across Africa, working to empower young people and help them create positive change in their communities.
Guided by the Subject to Citizen (S2C) philosophy, AAYMCA helps youth transition from being passive members of society to active citizens through programmes which focus on skills development, leadership, employment, civic engagement, health, justice, environmental conservation, and peacebuilding.
AAYMCA’s Secretariat team provides expert support to national YMCAs, ensuring strong leadership and effective programmes. It uses the 3Is Workshop Model — Inspiration, Ideation, and Implementation, to design impactful initiatives that involve youth, YMCA staff, and community partners in creating solutions for Africa’s challenges.
