YBI responds to Beirut emergency with package of support for entrepreneurs

Youth Business International is expanding the Rapid Response and Recovery Programme funded by Google.org to support small businesses affected by the crisis in Beirut. A devastating explosion in Beirut on 4 August killed around 200 people and injured an estimated 6,000, as well as making 300,000 homeless. Global response with humanitarian aid has been swift in the aftermath of the devastation. In its response to support small businesses affected by the impact of the crisis, YBI will implement a holistic package of emergency support, including crisis helplines, targeted advice, training, and webinars. This will help business owners to adapt and survive the economic shock of the crisis and the difficult challenges ahead of them. Sarah Eldon, Director of Development & Programmes at Youth Business International said:

“It is important that entrepreneurs, including the most disadvantaged, are supported during this critical time to continue to be able to trade and earn a living. Enabling small businesses to continue to stay open and earn an income, particularly through digital tools, will be key to the country’s ability to recov economically and continue to provide employment.”
