Ambitious Strategy and Significant Achievements

2023 marked the first year of YBI’s ambitious strategy to create a million jobs by starting and scaling 250,000 youth-led businesses by 2025. Last year, YBI made significant strides toward this goal by:

  • Supporting the start-up and strengthening of over 65,000 youth-led businesses
  • Creating over 329,000 jobs
Network Expansion and Collaboration

YBI expanded its global network by welcoming nine new members. These additions enhance our collective commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs worldwide.

Commitment to Inclusivity

YBI remains dedicated to making entrepreneurship inclusive and accessible:

  • More than half of the supported young people were women
  • Over 17,000 were refugees, migrants, or internally displaced persons
  • Over 8,000 were Indigenous people
Focus on Sustainability and Social Impact

YBI encourages youth-led businesses to address social, economic, and environmental challenges. In 2023:

  • Over 37,000 businesses supported had a primary focus on environmental or social impact
  • The Sustainability Toolkit, funded by JPMorgan Chase, and the Social and Green Toolkit, supported by Accenture, were piloted to help young entrepreneurs integrate sustainable practices
The Path Forward

Young entrepreneurs have the potential to lead us toward a brighter future. By continuing to support their energy, creativity, and resilience, we can tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges. As we reflect on our 2023 achievements, we are more motivated than ever to drive our mission forward, ensuring that every young entrepreneur, regardless of their background, can succeed.
